Kura Kura is a small resort located 50 steps from the ocean. The original property was a traditional Java-style house, and the retreat centre has been built around this main house with the pool and Shala in the middle. The staff retains the feeling of close family, while an abundance of tropical plants and animals make it feel like a haven from the rest of the world. This is your home away from home.
Kura Kura has eight guest rooms, each built around the original family house. The rooms were designed in traditional Java-style architecture. Each one has an en-suite bathroom and two single or one queen size bed. Each room has a modern simplicity, comfortable furnishings, mosquito nets and fans. The breeze coming in off the ocean will keep you refreshed during the day and cool at night.
Decadent fresh fruit awaits you every day at Kura Kura. French toast, freshly squeezed juice, tea, coffee, desserts, everything you want is provided for. Breakfast is a buffet with several options, lunch is our biggest meal of the day, with a menu that changes daily. Dinner is a lighter affair, giving you the sustenance you need, while keeping your system light for the early morning asana practice.
Shala means gathering space or school, and it’s where all our yoga practice and teachings will take place. The Shala is open to the elements on one side, while the other two walls form sources of support for yoga poses and modifications. The Shala is situated next to the pool, and most of the rooms are located nearby, creating a peaceful feeling of community. In the morning, you’ll be able to hear the sound of the waves crashing up onto the beach. The birds will sing from the coconut trees and you may be able to hear mantras being chanted from temple ceremonies nearby. Bliss all around!
